Household Waste & Recycling

Bluewater Recycling Association is contracted for the co-collection of recyclables and waste throughout Middlesex Centre. Collection occurs on a weekly basis for both recyclables and waste.  All items are to be at the curb by 7:00am for collection – drivers and routes do change occasionally. The schedule for collection is the same day every week (the exception is when Christmas Day & New Year’s Day are on your collection day – check for notices on the website and/or with the office). To find out your collection day click here to see the schedule map.

In the rural areas, waste and recyclables will be collected at the same time with the same vehicle in a two compartment truck. In the urban areas, it is possible that your waste bin will be collected first, while your recycling bin will be collected later in the day. We recommend that you still set out both containers at the same time to ensure collection as we may use a two compartment truck in certain areas from time to time.

Wheelie Bins come in 3 sizes for waste (small, medium & large)and 2 sizes for recycling (medium & large). The annual cost is associated with the size of waste bin you choose:
Small Bin: $100.00 (120 litre capacity / dimensions 39"x20"x23")
Medium Bin: $185.00 (240 litre capacity / dimensions 41"x27"x28")
Large Bin: $270.00 (360 litre capacity / dimensions 45"x29"x34")

To dispose of items too large for your wheelie bin or if you have additional items, scroll down and see the Enviro Depot section below.

Bluewater Recycling Association looks after all wheelie bins so contact them directly If you...
  • are new to the Municipality and your new home does not have wheelie bins
  • If your wheelie bin becomes damaged or lost
  • If you would like a different size of wheelie bin(s)

Click here for some tips on Recycling.  The Bluewater Recycling Association’s website is a great resource to find out what materials are and are not accepted in your recycling bins (blue lid) and waste bins (black lid). Here is the link to their website: www.bra.org.

During weather events residents are encouraged to visit the Bluewater Recycling Association’s website which they keep up to date regarding delays and cancellations.  Middlesex Centre is one of many municipalities that BRA services so be sure to click on "Current Collection Status" bar on their homepage to see details regarding the status of your collection.

If you have any questions about the Automated Collection Program or the wheelie bins, please visit the Bluewater Recycling Association website at www.bra.org or contact their office, 1-800-265-9799 / info@bra.org

Food Waste - Green Cone

The Green Cone uses solar energy to breakdown food waste back to its natural components. The Green Cone digests household waste, essentially reducing it to water, carbon dioxide and small amounts of residue. The Green Cone not only offers countless environmental benefits it will help cut down on your household waste for collection. More information is available at the municipal office or on Bluewater Recycling Association’s website www.bra.org

Electronic Waste

Middlesex Centre accepts e-waste free of charge at our Enviro Depots (see Enviro Depot section above for location & hours).

Bluewater Recycling Association also accepts e-waste where they breakdown the components and properly dispose of the electronics.
