Capital Projects and COVID-19

Last updated: May 14, 2020

In light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the essential services regulation currently in place throughout the Province of Ontario, the Municipality of Middlesex Centre has re-assessed its capital projects planned for 2020.

The municipality is delaying some of its planned capital projects and is only moving forward with projects that:

  • Address a safety issue
  • Can be done with minimal risk to workers and the public
  • Impact the municipality’s ability to provide service
  • Are already underway (or in some cases were completed prior to COVID-19)
  • Would cause increased costs by delay (construction, maintenance)

The municipality’s decision to proceed with some critical projects was made in consultation with the OPP, Ministry of Labour, industry representatives and legal counsel. There will be strict protocols in place on worksites to ensure all public health recommendations are followed.
