Middlesex Centre, Ontario, June 26, 2020 – After putting the project on hold due to COVID-19, the Municipality of Middlesex Centre restarted work on their new Strategic Plan with a special meeting of Council on June 24, 2020.
At the same time, work is beginning on the municipality’s Official Plan Review.
These two key documents provide guidance and direction to the municipality. The Strategic Plan sets out overarching community priorities for the municipality over the next five years, while the Official Plan guides where and how growth and development will occur over the next 25 years.
A big part of both plans is seeking public input, to understand how residents, community groups, and businesses envision Middlesex Centre in the future. As they are happening at the same time, the municipality is combining much of the community outreach on the plans and the 2021 budget development process to avoid duplication in getting feedback from businesses and the public.
In response to COVID-19, traditional public open houses and face-to-face meetings are being replaced with surveys and on-line input. The project consultants will meet via web meeting or over the phone with local community groups, agencies, and businesses. Residents, community groups, and businesses are welcome to submit written comments. In the case of the Official Plan Review, those wishing to comment may present their thoughts to a special meeting of Council that will take place this summer.
All of these opportunities for public input will be posted on the municipal website and shared on social media over the coming weeks.
