Middlesex Centre, Ontario, February 17, 2021 – Middlesex Centre Council is pleased to appoint Sue Cates as the new councillor for Ward 4, an area which includes the villages of Kilworth and Komoka.
Council announced the appointment at their meeting on February 17, 2021. Ms. Cates fills the vacancy left after the former Ward 4 councillor stepped down in December 2020.
“I am honoured to represent our Komoka-Kilworth community as the Ward 4 councillor,” said Ms. Cates. “Joining half way through this term, I plan to respect the experience of my fellow colleagues on council, staff and experts, and do my best to get up to speed quickly.”
“I am all about listening to others opinions, and gathering the facts and details,” added Ms. Cates. “As councillor I feel it is my position to bring forward input and concerns from the community and to also rely on the advice of staff and experts to wisely make the right decisions on items before council.”
An active member of the community for 21 years, residents may know Ms. Cates from her career as a local area realtor or from her involvement with many community organizations. This includes serving leadership positions with the Komoka Kilworth Optimist Club, the Komoka Kilworth Business Association, the Komoka Seniors Apartments, the Komoka Community Market and the Middlesex Centre Pollinator Team, among others.
Ms. Cates will take the oath of office prior to the council meeting on March 10, 2021, at which point she will officially take her seat on council. She will serve for the remainder of council's 2018-2022 term.
“I am very excited for this opportunity, and look forward to hearing residents’ comments, questions and concerns,” said Ms. Cates.
“I welcome residents to contact me directly or to like my Facebook page, ‘Sue Cates Councillor Ward 4’, to stay up-to-date with Middlesex Centre business, community news and more.”
