- December 16, 2022 - End-of-Year Update
Update from Arnie Marsman, Director of Building Services/Chief Building Official.
A few updates for you as we approach the end of 2022:
Our staff has reserved the morning of Thursday, February 9th to meet with builders and developers at the Wellness Centre in Komoka. Please mark this date on your calendars. More information will be provided in January.
Building Division’s Availability over the Holidays:
Middlesex Centre’s offices will be open until the end of day December 23rd, closed for the week of December 26-30th and reopen again on Monday January 2nd. Building inspection availability will follow these timelines. Keep in mind that, although our offices are closed, complete applications and inspection requests for the new year, may still be submitted via Cloudpermit.
Building Permit Fees:
For 2023, as outlined in my recent email, building permit fees have increased based on the Consumer Price Index (September to September): 6.9%
For example; in Middlesex Centre, a 2,000 S.F. Single Family Dwelling base permit fee increases from $3,185 to $3,400
The 6.9% CPI will also be applied to building permit fees in Southwest Middlesex, Adelaide Metcalfe and North Middlesex as required by their building permit fee review earlier this year. Revised fee by-laws will be posted on municipal websites shortly.
For 2023, also as noted in my recent email to this group, development charges have been increased. Our updated DC Brochure is posted on the Development Charges homepage here… development charges
Applicability of new fees/DCs:
So long as a complete application is submitted in Cloudpermit by the end of December 2022, the current fees/development charges will apply. Any permits issued based on applications submitted this year, must start within six months of permit issuance.
If you require clarification of the above, or have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact myself or any of building division’s staff. We wish you very happy holidays and a new year!
- February 3, 2022 - Backflow Solutions Inc. supporting Middlesex Centre's Cross-Connection Control Program
To provide the best program possible, the Municipality of Middlesex Centre has partnered with Backflow Solutions, Inc. (BSI) to help in the reporting and maintenance of the Cross-Connection Control Program.
Backflow devices are placed in industrial, commercial and institutional (IC&I) buildings to protect backflow of contaminated or polluted water into our public water system. These devices are tested annually by licensed, certified plumbers with properly calibrated devices to ensure the protection of our water supply.
BSI has sent out an email to our local testing companies to advise them of this new partnership, provide information on the program, and detail how to register as a certified tester. If you didn’t receive this email or would like further information on this program, please reach out to Building Services.
