Economic Development Advisory Committee: Call for Applicants

Have a passion for local business?

We are looking for members to join the new Middlesex Centre Economic Development Advisory Committee (EDAC).

This committee works to enhance municipal economic development and sustainability efforts by providing strategic advice to council and senior staff. It promotes balanced long-term economic growth that will benefit Middlesex Centre and its residents through the attraction, expansion and retention of businesses. Members will work collaboratively to explore economic development initiatives, ideas and opportunities. 

The committee will meet quarterly and will consist of up to nine members: 

  • The mayor or their designate
  • Two councillors (Councillor Heffernan and Councillor Cates have been appointed to EDAC)
  • One member representing the Ilderton Business and Area Improvement Area (Ilderton & Area Business Association)
  • One member representing the Komoka/Kilworth Business Improvement Area (Komoka-Kilworth Business Association); and
  • Up to four community members representing a cross-section from the manufacturing, commercial, agricultural and sole entrepreneur areas, and represent businesses from different wards in the municipality. 

Community Members

We are accepting applications for community members of EDAC. As a member, you must show:

  • An ability to constructively participate in a fair and open-minded manner
  • An ability to consider a broad range of views that reflect the diversity of the community
  • Good knowledge and understanding of local issues that are relevant to economic development
  • A willingness to advocate on behalf of and celebrate the success and achievements of the business community in the Municipality of Middlesex Centre

The committee is expected to meet quarterly. Please note this is a volunteer committee – there is no remuneration for this position.
